Call for Nominations IEEE Photonics Society (IPS) 2012 Distinguished Lecturer Awards
Nominations for the Distinguished Lecturer Awards are now being solicited for submission to the Photonics Society Executive Office. The deadline for nominations is 16 February.
The nomination form, and a list of previous recipients and awards information is available on the Photonics Society web site: www.PhotonicsSociety.org under the “Awards” tab.
The Distinguished Lecturer Awards are presented to honor excellent speakers who have made technical, industrial or entrepreneurial contributions of high quality to the field of lasers and electro-optics, and to enhance the technical programs of the Photonics Society chapters. Consideration is given to having a well-balanced variety of speakers who can address a wide range of topics of current interest in the fields covered by the Society. The term for the Lecturers is July 1 of the year of election until June 30 for the following year. Candidates need not be members of the IEEE or the Photonics Society.
Fellow Nominations Are
Now Only Accepted Electronically
A change to how Fellow nomination forms are submitted will take place for the 2013 Fellow Class. Previously, nominations were submitted either by hard copy or through the Fellow online application. After allowing both methods for many years, the Fellow Committee and the IEEE Board of Directors approved the change to go completely electronic. The 2013 Fellow Class will be the first class where all the forms (nominations, references, endorsements) will have to be submitted electronically. No hard copy forms will be accepted for any reason. The nomination period for the 2013 Fellow Class is now open and will continue through 01 March 2012. Nominee eligibility requirements, steps to becoming an IEEE Fellow, nomination instructions and much more can be found on the Fellow Web Site at www.ieee.org/fellows.
